Resumo

With the advancement of the mechanical metal industry it is evident the need to increase the quality and efficiency of the production processes, being the machining one of the most used manufacturing processes. Among the machining processes, milling stands out for the versatility of operations and for performing complex machining and in different materials. Among the various materials, the use of duplex stainless steels UNS S32205 stand out for excellent mechanical properties, high corrosion resistance, but has low machinability. The objective of this work is to study the influence of cutting parameters on the UNS S32205 end milling, using design of experiments and analysis of variance to evaluate the behavior of surface roughness Ra, in function of the cutting speed, feed per tooth and work penetration. The results showed that the feed per tooth is the factor that most influenced the surface roughness of the piece whose lowest observed value was 0.326 µm.
