Definition and classification

Rotating tools for machining of materials, consisting of a series of teeth and cutting edges, usually arranged symmetrically around an axis. The teeth and cutting edges remove material from the workpiece intermittently, turning it into a finished piece with the shape and dimensions desired.

The classification of milling may be performed according several criteria, as follows:
